The annual branch Children’s Christmas Party was held on the 3rd December 2016 at Washingborough community centre.
We were told to expect a bumper turnout of members children and grandchildren following last years success, however we were disappointingly low on numbers this year.
With less than half the numbers expected turning up.
However despite the turnout the kids had a fantastic day with the usual party games and a visit and a present from Santa.
There were also plenty of full tummies, as the kids tucked into an amazing buffet prepared by the branch secretary’s wife and family members and other branch members who had baked and contributed to the buffet.
Lots of volunteers on the day ensured that that everyone was kept fed and watered and the grown ups were treated to a star raffle with some excellent prizes up for grabs.
At the end of the day the children had a great time and went home weary with big smiles and thank you’s to all those that worked hard to ensure that they had a fantastic time.
As you can imagine after catering for so many that didn’t turn up there were lots of food left over and selection boxes. The food was donated to St Giles church and the selection boxes were taken to the older adults ward at Withim court (see separate post). Due to the ‘no show’ of many, at the branch meeting held on Monday 12th it has been decided and passed that next year will see the introduction of tickets for the children’s party at a cost that will be decided later in the year.
Many thanks to Regional Council who made a monetary donation to the event and to all members of Z60 who gave up their time, money and effort to ensure that all the kids had a brilliant time.
A full list of raffle winners and prizes will be posted to this site.
